Audrey Kawasaki - "Akaku" - Limited Edtion Print
Artwork measures 16 x 30 inches (including a 3/4 inch border).
Note from the artist: This was my first time painting a dragon, and it was a fun challenge for me. The bright red tones are a divergence from my regular palette, but it was refreshing to work with new colors.
Lately I've been thinking about themes around “finding one's own voice.” How it takes a type of strength and believe in oneself to be shameless or uninhibited, and how society punishes girls and women for finding this strength. To me, this painting resonates with ferocity and female empowerment, celebrating strong women who remain grounded in a chaotic world.
This piece was exhibited at the 9th Annual Red Envelope group show at Harman Projects and curated by Grumpy Bert, and was inspired by the 2024 Chinese New Year of the dragon and the red envelope, traditionally used to gift money on special occasions, and symbolizes luck and prosperity.
Please allow for additional shipping time due to the careful packaging these prints require. Print may ship loosely and safely rolled.
