Giant Robot is proud to present Please Be Brave, a solo show by Deth P. Sun. Sun's acrylic paintings on panels bring epic landscapes and cosmic occurrences into a private and personal world. Influenced by David Attenborough, as well as the Moomin series and films of Terry Gilliam, the Oakland-based artist seeks to create a fantasy world as a reflection of his own experiences and worldview. It is a place where cold mountains loom under the stars, cloaked figures arrive with the night, and lone dreamers struggle--a place where hope and belief still shine in dark times. His works have shown in over 150 solo and group exhibits across North America (in addition to the UK) since 1996. For Please Be Brave, Sun is preparing 200 5"x5" paintings--some paper framed and others panels. Also available will be his recently published book, I See It All, which collects private drawings and provides rare insight into his thought process and clues regarding his works' recurring characters, implied stories, and directions in the future.
A reception for the artist will take place from 6:30 - 10:00 on Saturday, November 14.
